James M. Ragsdale
James is PhD student in social psychology who studies the causes of stigma surrounding opioid use and how to reduce it. He enjoys traveling and spending time with family, friends, his loving partner Anna, and his two cats, Louis and Chowder.

Keaton is pursung an MA in Sociology. His research concerns stigma associated with following a vegan diet. He recently earned a BS in Politcal Science and a BA in Sociology.

Emily Fisher Wood
Emily Fisher Wood (PhD 2019) wrote a dissertation on opioid addiction stigma and is now a UX researcher on Facebook’s Social Research Climate Team. Recently featured as one of Forbes 30 Under 30, her work empowers communities to pledge to combat climate change via over 24000 action-oriented Facebook groups.

Marcia Lopez
Marcia Lopez is a retired police sergeant whose sociology MA thesis - "Blue to Black: Erosion of Empathy in Law Enforcement Officers” - draws on her many years of work experience. She is a Northern Nevada Native who loves this area and cares about the welfare of those still in the law enforcement profession. Her retirement time is spent enjoying the outdoors, fitness and reading.

Ann E. Jones
Ann E. Jones received her PhD in 2020. Her dissertation explored the determinants of psychological wellbeing among survivors of sexual assault. She works as a Senior UX Experience Researcher at the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative.

Skylar Tomchek (BA, 2020) won the College of Liberal Arts Undergraduate Research Award and is now pursuing a graduate degree in counseling.

Edith Ramirez
Edith Martinez (MA 2017) wrote her thesis on acculturative stress and eating disorders among Latina college students. She is the Student Success Manager in the Division of Equity, Justice, and Inclusive Excellence at UC-Merced and teaches online for the UNR Dept. of Sociology.

Karen Camelo graduated with her MA in Sociology in 2017 on food insecurity among college students. We went on to publish an article about it that is now widely cited!

Pete Martini
Pete Martini, PhD, graduated in 2017 after defending his dissertation on minority stress and mental health in the LGB population. He is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Nevada State College.

Dara Naphan-Kingery
Dara Naphan-Kingery (PhD 2016) wrote a dissertation on how micro-aggressions affect persistence among women engineering students, published here. She is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Western New Mexico University.

Lisa Maletsky
Lisa Maletsky graduated with her PhD in Social Psychology in 2019 after defending her dissertation on sexual violence. she now works as a Senior User Experience Researcher at Adobe.

R. David Hayward completed his PhD in 2008, has published over 100 scholarly articles, is a Senior Researcher at Ascension St. John Hospital and a delightfully happy father and husband.
